The Fourth Dimension

Labelled as the 4th test, The Lions take on the powerful Maori All Blacks tomorrow morning in Rotorua.

The Maori beat the Lions for the first time in 2005 and will be looking to take the scalp again.

It has been a troubled week for the Lions – losing to the Highlanders and then having Owen Farrell side lined with a quad injury. Rumours suggest he may also miss the first test.

As I’ve said before, the games leading up to the series are less important than the three matches against the All Blacks.

However, momentum and confidence are key in the preceding games and these have been stuttering at best so far.

The Maori will be fired up having watched the ABs demolish Samoa and will want to dent the Lions confidence by knocking them over tomorrow.

It will be a tough game but it is a chance for the Lions to show that they can shut down the NZ running game and starve them of ball in the open.

Defence will be a big factor and no doubt Andy Farrell has been working hard on the line speed and sweeping for the chip over.

It is also time for the Lions to show dominance in the set piece.

I have the Lions by 7
