Rugby administrators constantly bang on about the importance of player welfare which has about as much veracity as ‘strong and stable’ or ‘of course I’ll respect you in the morning’.

It is hardly surprising the fore that the RPA have dismissed the idea of extending the domestic season in the Premiership –
