They say that you shouldn’t kick a man when he’s down – except of course that’s absolutely best time to do it! As I discovered to my cost when playing rugby!
I’ve been looking at what ‘Don’ had achieved as he approaches his first 100 days in relation to what he Trumpeted (ha ha) that he was going to do.
It’s pretty impressive according to his hundreds of tweets – but not so much when you look at the facts.
The summary is here and it’s worth a read, especially I would think by those who actually voted for him –
Remember this is a president whose party controls both Houses – so he should be able to Trump the democrats at will!
Trump also has the look of a conman. He sold himself as a populist who would fight for the forgotten Americans, but is following domestic policies aimed at comforting his super-rich friends while afflicting his most loyal blue-collar supporters.
He promises a tax package that will give huge breaks to the already well-to-do; he backed a Republican health-care plan that would have left 24 million Americans without insurance but saved billions for billionaires; he shows no sign of delivering on his trillion-dollar infrastructure plan although he keeps pushing his “beautiful” wall across the entire border with Mexico; and his hectoring of U.S. companies to stop exporting jobs has been more show than substance.
But my absolute favourite was from Stephen Colbert on Monday’s late Show –
Trump hasn’t accomplished any of his big goals, “but — and it’s a big but — he did sign a law making it easier for mentally ill people to buy guns and for hibernating bears to be hunted,” Colbert noted. “So he took care of his base: insane people who want to murder Yogi.”
He has however achieved one other major triumph – the lowest approval rating of any president at this point!
And his golf handicap must have come down too!
Hard to believe that it has only been 100 days (this Saturday) – luckily for this blog he has another 1,364 to go – & maybe an additional 1,461 after that!
