The Shirt Locker

When he yellow carded a ball boy at the weekend (Card luck), Nigel Owens was applauded for once again demonstrating his sense of humour.

He is now looking for the lad to give him his match jersey – he wrote this on Twitter –

This is why rugby is the greatest team sport in the world. Anyone know the ballboy? Will send him my match Jersey to keep. #goodsport

He is one of the most respected referees in the history of world

There was another example of this last night during Leinster’s facile 47-9 win over the Scarlets at the RDS.

The incident occurred with six minutes remaining when a ball was flung back in to play as the Scarlets prepared to take a penalty.

Unfortunately, the ball struck the referee in the back of the head.

He turned to the ball boy and immediately flashed a yellow card to the delight of the crowd.

The lad is Joe Downey and I bet he’ll be chuffed to get the shirt
