Change Management

Immediately after the win in Cardiff Eddie Jones announced that he would be making changes to the team for the game against Italy on Sunday at Twickenham.

Eddie Jones says his plans to select an experimental side against Italy is not a slight on the opposition but designed to ensure England become the best team in the world.

There has been a lot of speculation in the media – primarily regarding the selection and positional changes in the backs.

Last night it was announced that Jonathan Joseph would be left out of the 23 this weekend.

I’m pretty sure that ‘Jonathan and his amazing dancing feet’ will be back – quite probably for the squad to play Scotland the following week.

I had delayed posting this, hoping that the team would be announced – maybe it is being put off until tomorrow as the game isn’t until Sunday.

So, just in case Eddie hasn’t made his mind up yet here’s the team I’d go with –

Farrell (c)

There has been a lot of call for Farrell to move to 10, but I think the Ford/Farrell axis is too good to break up. I’d like Clifford’s pace to get in amongst the Italians.

I’d have Sinckler and Vunipola as the props on the bench.

Suspect I Have it all wrong – and frankly it is hard to argue with Eddie as he’s going for his 16th (and England’s 17th) win on the bounce.
