In the comparatively civilised build up to the second games in the 6 Nations it seems quite odd that the normal denigrating of opponents, coaches and fans has given way to various levels of praise for the various protagonists.
This will soon stop when the first whistle blows of course – quite right too!
At the moment there are still 3 teams in with a chance of the Grand Slam – plus two more who will still fancy their chances of winning the competition (apologies to Connor O’Shea).
I expect come Monday that only one team will still be part way to a Grand Slam.
My selections for the weekend are –
Ireland to win in Rome with something to spare (a lot to spare if Sergio doesn’t make the starting line-up)
I think the selection of Biggar is a bluff – I fully expect Sam Davies to be wearing the number 10 shirt at 4.50pm in the Principality. Nevertheless I expect (hope) that an inexperienced England will come through – just!
Paris is no place for feint hearts again – Scotland won’t want for heart, desire or skill – but the pain never having won there for 18 years will continue.
As always the only one I really care about is England winning!
