Two articles from respected writers were published today – both are Scottish and are worth reading.
Sir Ian McGeechan, writing in the Telegraph outlined why he thinks the All Blacks are the best ever – and that only the 1987 side, who won the first World Cup are the only ones who can bear comparison –
Incidentally the 1987 team included John ‘Kipper’ Gallagher who earlier played for Askeans (in the centre with me – although I can’t take all the credit for how good he became!).
Ominously, Geech underlines the fact that they are better than the 2005 ABs – who whitewashed the Lions 3-0
The other article is by Ian Morrison who is with ‘The Scotsman’, wrote today –
Morrison was also an international and played for Scotland in the 1995 World Cup (the Jonah Lomu one!)
It seems almost impossible to think that the All Blacks won’t get an 18th consecutive victory next weekend at Eden Park and then go on to extend it in the November tour.
They have to lose at some point Warren Gatland will be hoping he can mastermind it on 24th June next year – also at Eden Park!
